New Flybuys System Allows Shoppers to Save at Bunnings

Shoppers at Bunnings can now enjoy a more convenient way to save money on their purchases, thanks to a major update in the Flybuys loyalty program. This new system allows customers to use their points directly at the checkout to receive instant cash discounts, making it easier than ever to get value from their rewards.

The change was first tested in several stores across Western Australia and proved so successful that it is now being rolled out nationwide. Deidre Boyle, Flybuys' chief member experience officer, expressed her excitement about the new flexibility for customers. She said, “Being able to walk into a Bunnings store and use your points on the spot, without needing to plan ahead, is a real game-changer.”

The trial received overwhelmingly positive feedback, prompting Flybuys and Bunnings to expand the program quickly. According to data from the trial, 87% of participants found the new system easy to use, while 63% said they would shop at Bunnings again if they could use their points.

This initiative follows a similar model used by other retailers like Coles, First Choice Liquor Market, and Liquorland, where customers can reduce their bill by $10 using their loyalty points. Previously, Flybuys members could only use their points to purchase a Bunnings gift card, but the updated system streamlines the process significantly.

How the New System Works

To take advantage of the new Flybuys system at Bunnings, shoppers need to have at least 2,000 points, which equates to $10 off their total bill. At the checkout, customers will find an option to pay using points, cash, card, or a combination of these methods.

The process is simple: scan your Flybuys code, and ensure your purchase is at least $10. Members can choose set increments for how many points they want to use during each transaction. The minimum discount is $10, with the maximum offering up to $200 off per transaction.

For redemptions over $100 or multiple redemptions in a single day, customers will need to use a one-time code provided through the Flybuys app. This ensures security and prevents misuse of the program.

Rachael McVitty, Bunnings’ chief customer officer, shared her enthusiasm for the partnership with Flybuys. “At Bunnings, we are always looking for new ways to deliver more value to our customers. By strengthening our partnership with Flybuys, we aim to make their shopping experience easier, more flexible and more rewarding,” she said.

Earning Points at Bunnings

Customers can earn Flybuys points by shopping at Bunnings, with one point awarded for every dollar spent. However, there are some exceptions—points are not given for gift card purchases, donations, services, or delivery charges.

This updated system provides a more straightforward and efficient way for customers to use their loyalty points, making it easier to save money on everyday purchases. With the ability to apply points directly at the checkout, shoppers can enjoy instant savings without the need for prior planning.

The rollout of this program marks a significant step forward for both Bunnings and Flybuys, offering customers a more flexible and rewarding shopping experience. As the system becomes available nationwide, more Australians will be able to benefit from this new way to save.
